About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring substitute teachers to work in K-12 schools in Kyle, Buda, Bluff Springs, and the surrounding Austin area for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers set their own schedules and may work up to five days per week in teaching assignments they choose. Assignments may include stepping in where needed for lunch or recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season. The role focuses on serving as a positive role model and helping students develop a love for learning. Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 college credit hours completed.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to step in where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and testing proctoring.
• Pass state and federal background checks; the costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.

Responsibilities

Benefits

• Earn up to $200 per day, with pay issued weekly.
• Daily pay rates are $129 for applicants with some college (48+ credits) or an associate’s degree, $150 for those with a bachelor’s degree or higher, and $200 for long-term assignments at all qualification levels.
