About The Position

Julie Billiart Schools is seeking substitute teachers for its network of Catholic, non-public schools serving children in grades K-8 with special learning challenges. The schools are located across Northeast Ohio, including Akron, Brecksville, Lyndhurst, and Westlake. This role supports an existing co-teach model, assisting two intervention specialists in carrying out instruction and fostering a classroom environment for student growth. The substitute teacher pool serves the entire network, with assignments made based on convenience.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, or a related field
• Skilled in differentiated instruction
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Comfortable communicating with parents and colleagues
• Flexible, adaptable, and able to think on your feet
• Enthusiastic, driven, and self-motivated
• Employees are regularly required to speak, stand, talk, walk, sit, see, and hear (corrected or uncorrected), and occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, as well as lift/move up to 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning, using varied materials and resources
• Implement lesson plans and schemes of work created by the classroom teacher
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for learning activities
• Prepare the classroom for daily activities
• Select instructional resources and methods — including relevant technology — to meet students' varying needs
• Instruct and monitor students' use of learning materials and equipment
• Assign and give feedback on student work
• Maintain accurate records of student progress
• Other duties as needed
