Part-time Substitute Teacher - Harlingen, TX
About The Position
Kokua Education is seeking Substitute Teachers for the 2026-27 school year in the Rio Grande Valley, TX. This part-time role allows you to set your own schedule, earn up to $145 per day, and make a positive impact on students' lives. We place positive role models in classrooms to spark a love for learning. As a substitute teacher, you will have the opportunity to work up to 5 days a week in assignments that excite you, get hired quickly, and potentially find a path to full-time employment in K-12 schools. We offer support from 6 am to 8 pm daily and encourage you to bring your unique experiences to the classroom.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience working with children in any setting (classroom, tutoring, coaching, etc.).
- Completed 48+ college credit hours.
- Confidence in managing a classroom of students.
- Willingness to step in where needed.
- Ability to pass state & federal background checks.
- Belief that every child has a unique & powerful gift to share with the world.
Nice To Haves

- Master's/Professional degree (MBA, JD, M. Ed, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Substitute teach in K-12 classrooms.
- Provide lunch/recess supervision.
- Assist with hallway monitoring.
- Engage in tutoring.
- Proctor during testing season.
