About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring substitute teachers to work in K-12 schools across the Rio Grande Valley, Texas, for the 2026-27 school year. Substitute teachers set their own schedules and can work up to five days per week in teaching assignments they are most excited about. They support students by covering lesson plans, serving as positive role models, and helping spark a love for learning. Assignments may also include lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season. The role offers up to $145 per day, paid weekly, with rates varying by education level. Requirements

At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
At least 48 college credit hours completed.
Confidence managing a classroom of students.
Willingness to assist with additional school duties as needed.
Ability to pass state and federal background checks.
