Substitute Teacher - Bluff Springs, TX
About The Position
Kokua Education is hiring substitute teachers to work in K-12 schools in Bluff Springs and the surrounding Austin and Kyle areas. Substitute teachers lead classrooms, help create safe and supportive learning environments, and support campuses wherever needed during the school day. Additional duties may include lunch and recess supervision, hallway and bathroom monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season. Teachers can choose their assignments and locations, with a flexible schedule of up to five days per week. The role offers weekly pay, with daily rates based on education and assignment length: $129 for candidates with a high school diploma/GED, 48 or more college credits, or an associate degree; $150 for those with a bachelor’s degree or above; and $200 for long-term assignments, regardless of qualifications. Kokua provides a support team available daily from 6 AM to 8 PM. Out-of-pocket costs are reimbursed after 10 teaching assignments. The role may also provide a pathway to full-time positions at high-performing K-12 schools.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience working with students in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, coaching, or camps.
- At least 48 college credit hours.
- Confidence managing a classroom of students.
- Fluent English reading, writing, and speaking skills.
- A strong belief that every child has a unique and powerful gift to share with the world.
- Ability to pass state and federal background checks.
