Kokua Education is hiring substitute teachers to serve K-12 schools in Kyle, Buda, and the surrounding Austin and San Marcos area for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers connect with students as classroom role models and help create safe, supportive learning environments. They can choose teaching assignments and locations, with a flexible schedule of up to five days per week. Assignment start and end times vary by school; most begin between 7:00 and 8:00 AM and end between 3:45 and 4:45 PM. Schedules are provided before assignments are accepted, though some schools may have earlier or later needs. Compensation is up to $200 per day. Daily rates are $150 for substitute teachers with bachelor's, master's, or professional degrees and $129 for those with a high school diploma or GED, at least 48 college credits, or an associate degree. Long-term assignments pay $200 per day. Teachers are paid weekly as W-2 employees. Kokua provides support from 6 AM to 8 PM every day, and reimburses out-of-pocket costs after 10 teaching assignments. The role may provide a pathway to full-time positions at high-performing K-12 schools. Kokua Education was founded by a former teacher and has connected individuals with K-12 schools for more than 13 years. The organization describes its mission as bringing communities together and helping students recognize their potential.
