About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring substitute teachers in Losoya and the surrounding San Antonio area for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers provide classroom coverage and serve as positive role models who encourage students’ love of learning. Assignments are available at K–12 schools, and teachers can set their own schedules and work up to five days per week. The role may also involve supporting schools with lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and test proctoring. Daily positions pay $140 per day, while long-term positions pay $172 per day, with weekly pay through W-2 employment. Kokua says it provides support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., offers an interview process that can begin immediately, and aims to provide an offer within one week of application. The position may also provide a path toward permanent roles at high-performing K–12 schools.

Requirements

At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
At least 48 college credit hours completed.
Confidence managing a classroom of students.
Willingness to take on additional school support duties as needed.
Pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.
