About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring substitute teachers in Antioch and the surrounding Nashville area for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers cover assignments at K–12 schools, support students’ learning, and serve as positive role models who help students see new possibilities. The role allows you to set your schedule and work up to five days per week in assignments that interest you. Daily positions pay $171 per day, while long-term positions pay $206 per day, with weekly paychecks. Employment is paid via W-2. Candidates may be considered for permanent roles at high-performing K–12 schools. Kokua provides support from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily and free professional development. Requirements

At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
An associate degree or at least 60 credit hours.
Confidence managing a classroom of students.
Willingness to work at least three days per week.
Pass state and federal background checks; costs are reimbursed after 10 assignments.

Nice To Haves

A bachelor’s degree is preferred, though candidates may be considered based on relevant experience.
Relevant experience working with students included on the resume.

Responsibilities

Cover teaching assignments at K–12 schools in the Antioch and Nashville area.
Support students’ learning and serve as a positive role model in the classroom.

Step in where needed, including lunch and recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season.
