About The Position

Beansprouts Preschool is seeking an on-call Substitute Preschool Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The role supports the preschool team and provides an opportunity to gain experience in education while learning from a creative and supportive team. Beansprouts serves children ages 2 to 9 through preschool, after-school, and day camp programming, with decisions guided by what is best for children and their interests and needs.

Available shifts are Monday through Friday, either 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. or 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Hours are flexible, and the organization is willing to work around the substitute’s schedule. The pay is $22–$24 per hour. Employment requires a background check and medical examination in accordance with Department of Health regulations.

Requirements

• At least an Associate’s Degree; Early Childhood Education or a related field is strongly preferred.
• At least two years of childcare experience in an established childcare setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be team-oriented, nurturing, patient, and reliable.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, which may include lifting children and participating in year-round outdoor activities.
• A background check and medical examination are required for employment under Department of Health regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head teacher with daily activities and as assigned.
• Promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of preschool-aged children.
• Monitor children's indoor and outdoor activities.
• Respond to children's needs in a positive and courteous manner.
• Participate in small-group activities.
• Engage in ad hoc projects and tasks as assigned.
