About The Position

Needham Public Schools seeks an energetic, skilled, and warm substitute teacher for its NCE Early Childcare Program, working with children from 3 months to 5 years old. The program is part of an inclusive, dynamic, and multicultural community committed to supporting every child and to equity, cultural proficiency, and collaboration with families and the community.

This is an as-needed position with workdays following the school calendar. The center is closed during school breaks in December, February, and April, as well as during the summer. The hourly pay range is $31.81–$33.96.

Requirements

• Ability to make decisions in the moment to ensure student safety.
• Willingness to collaborate with and/or take direction from teachers and the Director.
• Effective written and verbal communication and good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift 35 pounds and participate in active interactions with children, including sitting on the floor, kneeling, standing, walking, pushing a stroller or buggy, and carrying children.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors.
• Self-motivation and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Flexibility to adjust to changing classroom circumstances.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with infants, toddlers, and/or preschoolers is preferred but not required.
• Strong commitment to equity.

Responsibilities
