About The Position

Fairbury Public Schools is seeking dedicated and flexible individuals to serve as Substitute Paraeducators across multiple locations for the 26-27 school year. In this role, you will assist classroom teachers in providing a supportive learning environment for students. You will work with students of varying abilities and needs, helping to facilitate their academic and social development. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in education or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a genuine interest in supporting student learning.
  • Ability to follow directions and adapt to changing situations.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology is preferred.
  • Must pass background checks and meet district requirements for substitute positions.
  • Availability to work on short notice and flexibility to travel to multiple locations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist classroom teachers in implementing lesson plans and educational activities.
  • Provide support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities.
  • Supervise students during classroom activities, lunch, recess, and other school events.
  • Help maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
  • Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and classroom resources.
  • Monitor and document student progress and behavior as directed by the teacher.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents as needed.
  • Follow school policies and procedures regarding student confidentiality and safety.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities as required.
  • Adapt to various classroom settings and student needs as necessary.
