About The Position

Avenues Recovery Center is hiring a Substance Abuse Counselor for its residential facility in Dublin, New Hampshire, which provides drug and alcohol detox and inpatient rehabilitation services. The counselor develops individualized, evidence-based treatment plans and provides individual, group, family, and couples therapy. The role is responsible for clinical services and aftercare for an assigned client caseload, crisis prevention and de-escalation, thorough documentation, and coordination with the Clinical Director, treatment team, and clients’ families. Counselors are expected to model honesty, accountability, dignity, respect, and recovery principles in their professional interactions.

Avenues Recovery Center is a nationwide network of drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers offering detox, residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient programs. The Dublin facility is situated on 11 acres of New Hampshire countryside and is staffed by clinicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, addiction counselors, and behavioral health technicians.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling, or a related field.
• Excellent observational, collaborative, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Compassionate, dignified character that models recovery principles.
• Ability to set strong boundaries and maintain absolute confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree.
• Valid state licensure or certification to practice in the role, such as LADC, MLADC, LSW, LICSW, or LCMHC.

Responsibilities

• Create individualized, evidence-based treatment plans for each client.
• Conduct individual, group, family, and couples therapy sessions.
• Take responsibility for clinical needs, services, and aftercare for an assigned client caseload.
• Prevent, intervene in, and de-escalate crises.
• Maintain documentation of client challenges, progress, relapse risk, and interventions.
• Coordinate care with the Clinical Director, treatment team, and clients’ families.
• Model ethics, morality, and recovery principles, including honesty, accountability, dignity, and respect.
