About The Position

Avenues Recovery Center is hiring a Substance Abuse Counselor to provide individualized, evidence-based addiction treatment. The counselor is responsible for the clinical needs, services, and aftercare of an assigned client caseload, delivering therapy and coordinating care with the treatment team and families. The role also involves crisis prevention and de-escalation, thorough documentation, and modeling ethical conduct and recovery principles.

The position is based at Avenues Recovery Center at Dublin, a residential facility in New Hampshire that provides drug and alcohol detox and inpatient rehabilitation. The facility is set on 11 acres and is staffed by clinicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, addiction counselors, and behavioral health technicians.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, or a related field.
• Excellent observational, collaborative, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Compassionate, dignified character that models recovery principles.
• Ability to set strong boundaries and maintain absolute confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree.
• Valid state licensure or certification to practice in this role, such as LADC, MLADC, LSW, LICSW, or LCMHC.

Responsibilities

• Create individualized, evidence-based treatment plans for each client.
• Conduct individual, group, family, and couple therapy sessions.
• Take responsibility for all clinical needs, services, and aftercare for an assigned client caseload.
• Prevent, intervene, and de-escalate during crises.
• Maintain accurate documentation of client challenges, progress, relapse risk, and interventions.
• Collaborate with the Clinical Director, treatment team, and families to coordinate care.
• Model honesty, accountability, dignity, respect, and recovery principles in professional interactions.
