About The Position

Belltower Fund Group, AngelList’s fund services division, provides fund administration and fund management services to venture funds, syndicates, and rolling funds. Its services combine financial reporting, tax, compliance, portfolio management, and other support with AngelList software. The Subscriptions & Closings Manager leads the Subscriptions & Closings team within GP Services and is accountable for accurate fund and SPV setup, subscription review, proration, timely closings, and client experience. The role works directly with general partners and institutional customers, translates client needs into product requirements and repeatable processes, and partners with Product and Engineering on tooling and process improvements. It works closely with Fund Formation and other cross-functional teams and reports to the Director of GP Services. The manager oversees team priorities, coverage, coaching, and service-level targets; owns escalations and operational quality; and develops distinct playbooks for institutional and traditional fund closings, including drawdown and capital-call administration, side-letter tracking, multi-close administration, parallel funds, and complex allocations. The role also owns workflow control checkpoints, including KYC/AML and sanctions screening, segregation of duties, audit-supporting documentation, and remediation of root causes when exceptions occur. Success includes defining and reporting operational targets, documenting playbooks and coverage plans, addressing control gaps, shipping process or tooling improvements, and owning the S&C client experience for complex managers.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience in fund administration, fund operations, or investor services within private markets, including hands-on investor subscriptions, capital closings, and fund or SPV setup.
  • Direct experience closing traditional closed-end or drawdown funds, including capital calls, side letters, and multi-close mechanics.
  • Experience working in a controls-conscious environment such as audit, compliance, AML/KYC, or regulated financial services, and comfort building or strengthening control checkpoints in high-volume processes.
  • Strong customer service experience serving GPs, LPs, or institutional clients in private markets or fund administration, including managing demanding relationships and communicating clearly under time pressure.
  • At least 1 year managing or leading a team, with experience coaching people and running a high-volume operational queue against service-level targets.
  • Working knowledge of venture fund structures, including SPVs, rolling funds, and traditional drawdown or closed-end funds, and the associated mechanics and documents, including capital calls, multi-close administration, subscription and purchase documents, and side letters.
  • A product mindset and experience converting recurring operational problems into tooling or process changes, with sound judgment about when a manual workaround is sufficient and when a systemic fix is needed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and systems-analytic ability, including managing external relationships and writing precise tooling requirements for Engineering.
  • Experience in a rapidly scaling fintech or fund services environment, or the ability to thrive amid rapid change.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Subscriptions & Closings team, including setting priorities, planning workload and backup coverage, coaching and developing team members, and holding the team to service-level targets for setup accuracy and closing turnaround.
  • Own end-to-end quality of fund and SPV setup, subscription review, proration, and closing confirmation; serve as the final escalation point for stuck, incorrect, or potentially risky matters.
  • Serve as the direct S&C contact for general partners and institutional customers, provide a white-glove client experience, and translate customer needs into product requirements and repeatable processes.
  • Own playbooks and execution for institutional and traditional fund closings, including side letters, capital-call mechanics, multi-close and parallel-fund administration, and complex allocations.
  • Own workflow control checkpoints, including KYC/AML and sanctions screening, segregation of duties between review and approval, and audit-ready documentation; drive root-cause remediation of exceptions.
  • Identify, specify, and deliver product and process improvements with Product and Engineering, test releases before they reach clients, and document process changes for the team and adjacent teams.
  • Contribute to the GP Services product roadmap by surfacing recurring client pain points and quantifying operational costs of tooling gaps.
  • Collaborate with Global Portfolio, Fund Services, Tax, and Compliance on matters affecting subscriptions and closings.
  • Support GP Services leadership with team design, hiring, and capacity planning as the institutional product grows.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary, benefits, and equity package.
  • Benefits supporting employees both in and outside of work.
