About The Position
This posting is for teachers with recall status and external applicants who are qualified for the position. The Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE) is part of the public education system in Nova Scotia, established on April 1, 2018. Its mission is to empower children and youth within safe, equitable, and inclusive environments to embrace a changing world as responsible, contributing, and successful lifelong learners. In the 2024-2025 school year, the SRCE operates 20 schools with approximately 5,948 students and 375 children in pre-primary programs across 14 locations. The SRCE's jurisdiction covers approximately 11,000 square kilometers in the northeastern part of Nova Scotia, encompassing the counties of Antigonish, Guysborough, Inverness, and Richmond.
Requirements
- Valid teacher certification for the Province of Nova Scotia.
- Methodology courses, experience, or practicum teaching in the subject area at the appropriate level for the competition.
- Excellent classroom and student management skills.
- Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning.
- Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies.
- High level of proficiency in both written and spoken French (approved through the SRCE French proficiency testing).
- Must provide at least three (3) work-related references, one of which must be your most recent supervisor.
- Must provide a current (within the last 6 months), and clear Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Abuse Registry prior to employment.

Responsibilities
- Teaching Core French for grades 4-8.
- Teaching Physical Education for grades 4-6.
- Participating in New Teacher training if hired or recalled into a new position and have not already done so.
