About The Position
TRIUMF, Canada's particle accelerator centre, is seeking a student to assist with the design, fabrication, and commissioning of preamplifier modules. This role involves mechanical design of the amplifier enclosure, following up on the production process, conducting validation tests, and completing acceptance tests for 20 modules. TRIUMF offers a unique environment for students to learn, grow, and contribute to cutting-edge scientific research, located on the UBC campus in Vancouver, BC. The student program emphasizes professional development, learning, and social engagement.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of analog and digital electronics
- Basic knowledge of PCB design workflow
- Basic knowledge of test instruments
- At least two years of engineering physics or similar university program
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of design tools - Altium Designer and SolidWorks
Responsibilities
- Characterization tests of circuits and adjust components
- Mechanical design of the module and follow-up production
- Module assembly and full characterization test including remote programming
