About The Position

The Account Associate for Canyon Catering & Events is a relationship-driven, consultative sales role focused on developing external partnerships and securing high-value catered events hosted on Grand Canyon University’s campus. This position plays a key role in activating the newly developed Canyon Catering & Events venue by identifying organizations, corporations, nonprofits, and community partners interested in hosting events at GCU. This role directly contributes to revenue generation by leveraging GCU’s culinary students and professional restaurant staff to deliver exceptional dining and event experiences. The Account Associate will serve as a brand advocate for Canyon Catering & Events, helping position the venue as a premier destination for corporate functions, private events, and community gatherings across Arizona, with future growth opportunities throughout the Southwest.

Requirements

  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program.
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
  • Must pass pre-employment background investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • Pursuing a degree in business, marketing, hospitality, communications, or a related field preferred.
  • Interest in hospitality, catering, event management, or sales are strongly desired.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to confidently present and “sell” ideas.
  • Comfortable with consultative sales, networking, and longer sales cycles.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and prospect potential external partners, including corporations, nonprofits, community organizations, and event planners throughout Arizona.
  • Promote proposals and secure sales for Canyon Catering & Events, featuring catered events, private dining experiences, and large-scale functions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships through networking events, industry outreach, chamber of commerce engagement, and referrals.
  • Collaborate with internal culinary, restaurant, and events teams to design customized event experiences that meet client needs and expectations.
  • Support contract discussions to secure bookings and coordinate event details.
  • Identify opportunities for ongoing partnerships, repeat business, and long-term collaboration agreements.
  • Represent GCU and Canyon Catering & Events with professionalism, enthusiasm, and alignment with the university’s mission.
  • Other duties as assigned.
