About The Position

The Student Success Assistant supports the mission of the University Honors Program by fostering student engagement, academic success, and community connection. Through coordination of signature events, support of student leaders, and effective office operations, the role enhances the overall honors experience while collaborating with staff and campus partners to promote student achievement and program excellence.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to three years of administrative support experience required.
  • Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
  • Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • CSU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support University Honors Program student experiences alongside UHP Staff by organizing key UHP events including Day at the Beach, Symposia, Graduation, New Student Welcome events, and Collaborative Events with Campus Partners.
  • Attend staff meetings and contribute to major event organization and planning.
  • Ensure student leaders are supported in their programming and publication of the award-winning magazine, The Honor Code.
  • Support UHPSA & HPMP as needed.
  • Help answer current and future student questions, emails, and inquiries, and direct students as needed to other staff.
  • Direct students to other campus services including tutoring, CAPS, writing center, tutoring centers, BMAC, Career Center, etc. to maximize students' success.
  • Support creation and uploading of honors course schedules.
  • Help manage and record thesis submissions.
  • Collaborate with Student Assistants in creating and promoting student events.
