About The Position

Under supervision, performs general cleaning, custodial functions, grounds maintenance, and gardening work at an assigned school site. Exercises responsibility for the general cleanliness of assigned locations and performs a variety of duties in the upkeep of assigned school site and related areas. The successful candidate will be trained and responsible for the Kern High School District's needs with regards to asbestos and hazardous materials.

Requirements

• Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work.
• Knowledge of maintaining school buildings and grounds in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
• Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency.
• Ability to perform heavy physical labor.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
• Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
• One year of experience in custodial or general labor work.
• Ability to read and write at a level necessary to perform the duties of the position.
• Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver's License.
• Must submit a recent DMV (3 year minimum) driving record with application.
