About The Position

South College is seeking an experienced academic advisor to join its Atlanta team of Student Success Advisors. Student Success Advisors help students set and achieve academic goals, obtain relevant information and services, and make responsible decisions aligned with their interests, goals, abilities, and degree requirements. The role applies academic advising practices to provide students with a personalized advising experience, including outreach to students at risk, communicating program requirements, supporting registration, and career planning. This student services position is based onsite at the South College Atlanta Campus in Atlanta, Georgia. Remote work is not available.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required.
Previous experience working with college students, ideally as an academic advisor and/or in college student success and retention.
Knowledge and understanding of academic advising practices and the ability to apply them in advising work.
Comfort with technology and strong communication skills.
Collaborative work ethic and ability to prioritize and multitask.
Ability to advise students by phone, email, text, and virtually.
Ability to speak with college students individually, present information to student groups, and quickly develop rapport with a diverse population.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and demonstrate creative problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Facilitate communication among students, faculty, and other departments.
Coordinate students’ learning experiences through course and career planning and academic progress reviews.
Refer students to other campus agencies as necessary.
Provide personalized academic advising, including outreach to at-risk students, sharing program requirements, supporting registration, and career planning.
