About The Position

ALTA VISTA INNOVATION HIGH SCHOOL is seeking a passionate Student Relations Technician to join their team. This role is crucial in supporting student growth and development by managing student records, ensuring compliance with educational mandates, and providing excellent customer service to students and families. The position operates Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Bilingual skills in English/Spanish are preferred to facilitate communication with a diverse student and family population.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education required.
  • 2 years of work experience in a fast-paced, clerical support position in a professional business setting.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy of work.
  • Good record-keeping techniques that demonstrate desirable planning and organizational skills.
  • Prepare general, statistical, and special reports.
  • Proficient or Intermediate skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to travel in performance of job duties is required.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills including the ability to greet customers in a friendly manner and provide responsive, timely, and accurate follow-up to questions and inquiries.
  • Multi-tasking skills; ability to react and respond to changing circumstances, procedures.
  • Respond to requests and inquiries from students, visitors, employees, and supervisors.
  • Able to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple requests or interruptions while still completing projects or work assignments in a timely manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and maintains files related to the management of student records, data input, reconciliation, correspondence, and public contact.
  • Communicates with students and/or parents regarding student information, progress, or concerns.
  • Performs complex and specialized activities related to student records and compliance issues for Average Daily Attendance (ADA) and State educational mandates.
  • Schedules orientation for incoming students.
  • Complies with protocols for expulsion, ELL, special education, re-enrollment, and reinstatement.
  • Ensures all required student enrollment paperwork is complete and correct.
  • Accurately inputs student information into SIS, including immunizations, enrollment dates, school track, and supervising teacher.
  • Properly issues and tracks student work permits.
  • Provides quality customer service.
  • Answers all incoming telephone calls and handles them appropriately.
  • Files documents in student folders.
  • Tracks and records ADA information and work samples for accuracy.
  • Audits student work samples and all documents requiring mandatory compliance (Master Agreement, WSR, DLL, Synopsis, Report Cards, etc.).
  • Checks report cards for completeness and accuracy before submission to the registrar.
  • Files student homework.
  • Conducts orientations for new students.
  • Assists teachers with problem-solving issues related to compliance and PLS.
  • Creates and maintains compliance and ADA checklists.
  • Verifies and confirms ADA in the SIS system with form and tracking number.
  • Submits compliance error reports to management.
  • Adheres to attendance policies.
  • May be assigned administrative duties, responsibilities, and activities.
