About The Position

The Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE) is a University of Texas at Austin-supported semiconductor consortium focused on developing and executing a state-of-the-art 3D Heterogenous Integration manufacturing technology roadmap. With significant funding from the US DoD and the state of Texas, TIE is at the forefront of creating cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing equipment and processes. This role offers hands-on experience in a state-of-the-art cleanroom environment, ideal for master's students interested in semiconductor manufacturing, microfabrication processes, and experimental research.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a master's degree program at The University of Texas at Austin or another accredited institution.
  • Experience working in a cleanroom environment.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor processing or microfabrication techniques.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to accurately document experimental procedures and results.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with photolithography processes and mask design.
  • Experience working with photoresists, spin coaters, and wafer processing equipment.
  • Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies.
  • Coursework or research experience related to semiconductor manufacturing, materials science, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, or a closely related field.
  • PhD in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform semiconductor processing activities in a cleanroom environment while following all safety and operational procedures.
  • Assist with photolithography mask design, ordering, and wafer patterning activities.
  • Prepare silicon, glass, and other substrates by applying photoresist coatings using spin coating equipment.
  • Operate lithography and related fabrication equipment to process 4-inch to 8-inch wafers.
  • Develop and inspect photoresist patterns using appropriate processing methods and chemicals.
  • Execute and document Design of Experiments (DOE), maintaining accurate records of process parameters and results.
  • Other duties as assigned
