About The Position

The Institute for Sustainable Practice is seeking a Student Worker to assist with various tasks related to sustainability research and content creation. This role involves independent work, learning new software, conducting research, and coordinating with sustainability professionals. The position requires a current Lipscomb University student and offers flexible hours with opportunities for paid travel.

Requirements

  • Current Lipscomb University student.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to learn and use basic software such as Google Sheets/Slides, word processing, Keynote, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to learn and publish content using Canvas, Zoom, Panopto, and other online course software.
  • Skilled/confident in basic literature review tasks.
  • Skilled/confident in basic research.
  • Skilled/confident in independent work schedule management.
  • Skilled/confident in task orientation and meeting deadlines.
  • Comfortable probing and interpreting written and graphic materials in basic science, engineering, business, psychology, and sociology.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with online/library research tools.
  • Experience planning travel itineraries.
  • Experience coordinating with professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and use basic software such as Google Sheets/Slides, word processing, Keynote, and PowerPoint.
  • Conduct online and library research to identify peer-reviewed research and subject matter materials in sustainability (renewable energy, green business, Earth and building science, agriculture, psychology, sociology, and related applied and theoretical practices).
  • Learn and publish content using Canvas, Zoom, Panopto, and other online course software.
  • Plan student and graduate course travel itineraries.
  • Investigate, document, and publish metrics of study sites.
  • Contact, secure, connect, and schedule the participation of sustainability professionals for out-of-state study sites annually.
  • Conduct weekly check-in meetings.
