About The Position

The Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa is seeking a Student Part-Time Professor to teach ADM4356M: Alternative Investments and Risk Management during the Winter 2027 semester. This course covers non-traditional alternative investments such as mutual funds, hedge funds, real estate, commodities, and income trusts. It also introduces basic concepts of risk management, including risk identification, analysis, likelihood of risks, and types of risks affecting property, income, responsibility, and decision-making. The position is limited to students who meet the criteria for a Student Part-Time Professor. Instruction will be in English and delivered in person.

Requirements

  • Master's (MSc in Finance or in Economics) or MBA (in Finance) degree (PhD in Finance or in Economics preferred) or a professional designation.
  • Extensive knowledge of fixed income, derivatives, risk management, or alternative investments.
  • Demonstrated recent professional experience in the area of the course.
  • Must be a Student Part-Time Professor.

  • PhD in Finance or in Economics preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Alternative Investments and Risk Management (ADM4356M) during the Winter 2027 semester.
  • Deliver course instruction in person.
  • Cover topics including non-traditional alternative investments (mutual funds, hedge funds, real estate, commodities, income trusts) and basic concepts of risk management (identification, analysis, likelihood, types of risks).
