The Nurse Internship is a paid, skill-based clinical role designed to bridge nursing education and professional practice through RN preceptorship, interdisciplinary collaboration, and progressive skill development. Interns gain hands-on clinical experience under the direct supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse and receive individualized placement within hospital and ambulatory care settings to explore clinical specialties while developing confidence, competence, and professional identity. Interns provide support in routine and technical aspects of nursing care for patients of all ages, within an established student scope of practice. They must follow facility policies and comply with Joint Commission requirements and applicable federal, state, and local regulations and accrediting standards. Summer interns may have the opportunity to continue as Senior Nurse Interns in the following fall and/or spring semesters, depending on performance and availability. Available units are Med Surg in Moose Lake and a Med Surg/Emergency Department combination in Sandstone. The internship runs June 7 through August 13, 2027, pays $22 per hour, and requires a commitment of 32–40 hours per week, up to 400 hours for the summer. Students taking summer classes may have adjusted hour requirements and must be able to commit to 32 hours every two weeks. Summer interns may be able to continue during the school year as Senior Interns in a PRN capacity, though space may be limited. This is a temporary-status position and is not eligible for benefits.
