About The Position

The Student Assistant will provide basic administrative and clerical support to the Dean's Office to include cross functional support to the other departments in the College of Natural Sciences.

Requirements

  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Admission or registration as a CSU student.
  • Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
  • Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
  • International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Social Security Card
  • Reside in the State of California.
  • Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) may be required.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License may be required.
  • Verification of identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
  • Completion of Sexual Violence Prevention Training within 6 months of assuming employment and on a two-year basis thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic clerical and administrative support to faculty and staff.
  • Answer phones, respond to emails, and direct inquiries to the appropriate office or staff member.
  • Assist with filing, scanning, photocopying, and organizing documents.
  • Enter and update information in spreadsheets, databases, or departmental systems.
  • Schedule appointments, meetings, and room reservations as needed.
  • Assist with preparing forms, reports, presentations, and other office materials.
  • Maintain organized electronic and paper records.
  • Help with student check-in, basic inquiries, and directing students to appropriate resources.
  • Sort and distribute mail and departmental communications.
  • Support special projects, events, workshops, and other departmental activities.
