About The Position

The Center for Retention, Progression, and Graduation in the College of Health Sciences at Eastern Kentucky University seeks to hire learning assistants. The learning assistants will support student learning in all areas of CHS, with greatest area of need in nursing and/or occupational science/therapy. Each learning assistant will work with the individuals' instructor, department chair, and/or college personnel to facilitate learning experiences. Specific duties will vary based on the course, the learning assistant's area of expertise, and the students' learning needs. Learning assistants work on campus with students one-on-one and in small groups and may also facilitate workshops on problem-solving strategies, study skills, exam preparation, and related topics. Additional duties will include active participation in weekly staff meetings and/or professional development workshops. Work hours may vary and are dependent upon learning assistant's class schedule and availability. Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 to be qualified.

Requirements

  • Must be a full-time student at EKU.
  • Completed at least one Essential Education course in quantitative reasoning or natural sciences.
  • Be in good academic standing with the University.
  • Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 to be qualified.

Nice To Haves

  • Nursing and/or occupational science majors preferred and must be admitted to the program of study.
