About The Position

Coffman Engineers is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and quality-oriented individual to join our team as an Entry Level Structural Engineer for our LA - Woodland Hills office. The ideal candidate should have a desire to work and grow as a team player within a multi-discipline engineering firm.

Requirements

  • A four-year degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.
  • Registration as an E.I.T.
  • Experience with computer analysis software systems.
  • Excellent leadership, supervisory, and writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Being comfortable consulting to architectural practices.
  • Working as part of a multi-discipline design team.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment (or demonstrate ability to develop such abilities).
  • Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities (or demonstrate ability to develop such abilities).
  • Able to maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel preferred.
  • Able to work independently as well as on teams.
  • Positive contributor to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering
  • Internship in the structural design of buildings or similar structures

Responsibilities

  • Work semi-independently.
  • Assist in managing CAD and production efforts.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
  • Perform structural analysis and design of structural members such as beams, columns, walls, joists, and foundations.
  • Develop structural models that mathematically define and idealize the actual structure being designed.
  • Use approved codes and standards to define structural demands on buildings due to wind and seismic loadings.
  • Analyze and design connections of the various structural elements in a building structure.
  • Perform analysis needed to evaluate seismic risk in existing buildings using approved structural codes and standards.
