About The Position

At Green Mountain Technology, we help large, complex shippers reduce costs, enhance delivery experiences, and build sustainable competitive advantages through technology, analytics, and logistics expertise. We are seeking a Strategic Solutions Engineer I to build customer reporting, support parcel and transportation analysis, and serve as the conduit between our customers’ data and the team that advises them. The ideal candidate brings early analytics experience, advanced Excel skills, and the curiosity to chase a data problem to its root cause. This is a development role: you will learn the parcel industry alongside a Strategic Solutions Manager who invests in your growth, and you will wear several hats along the way — project coordinator, solution architect, business analyst.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience in an analytics role.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills — formulas, data cleansing, and data manipulation.
• A bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Math, MIS, or a similar discipline.
• An innovative mind with strong analytical problem-solving ability.
• Sharp critical thinking and a habit of chasing problems to their root cause.
• Self-motivation and an outcome orientation, driven by timelines and quality — you work well with very limited supervision.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.

Nice To Haves

• Entry-level understanding of SQL queries and relational databases.
• Knowledge of transportation and supply chain systems and concepts.
• Exposure to business intelligence tools such as Tableau, or to data warehousing concepts.
• Comfort presenting your work and explaining it to people who did not build it.

Responsibilities

• Build, clone, and modify customer reports to Green Mountain Technology standards, and create on-demand reporting for client requests.
• Pull and shape data from our data warehouse for ad hoc analysis, from routine data pulls to one-off questions from a client’s finance team.
• Run re-rate analyses — service changes, DIM changes, surcharges, CWT, re-zoning, GRI validation — to show clients what a change actually costs them.
• Support carrier RFP analysis and modeling for both national and regional carriers.
• Produce monthly savings and performance reports, and know every customer-facing report well enough to explain it.
• Help interpret and write business requirements for GL coding, cost allocation, and data labeling based on what clients need.
• Learn the parcel industry from the ground up: carrier file types, invoice translation, audit flags, and the UPS, FedEx, USPS, and regional carrier contracts that drive everything we do.
• Quality-check every deliverable before it leaves your hands, and partner with other engineers to check theirs.
• Take notes and document client conversations, keep your Jira and Confluence action items current, and flag timeline or expectation risks to your manager early.
• Find better ways to do the work — process improvements, error-proofing, and system requests that make the whole team faster.
