About The Position

Riverton City is seeking a full-time Stormwater Maintenance Worker Level I or Level II in the Public Works Department. This position is responsible for the maintenance of the City's stormwater infrastructure. Duties include, but are not limited to, street sweeping, hydro vac, and camera inspections.

Requirements

  • Level 1: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Level 1: Must possess a valid Utah Driver's License with a good driving record
  • Level 1: Must obtain a valid Utah CDL Class A with tanker endorsement within six (6) months of hire.
  • Level 2: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Level 2: Must possess a valid Utah CDL Class A with a good driving record and obtain a tanker endorsement within six (6) months of hire.
  • Level 2: 2+ years' experience driving a sweeper truck required.
  • Level 2: 2+ years' experience driving a hydro-vac truck required.
  • Level 2: 2+ years' experience operating a camera truck is required.
  • Level 2: 2+ years' experience driving front loader/excavator and haul trucks required.
  • Sufficient in a variety of construction skills such as: asphalt, concrete, and laying of pipe.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in difficult situations.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays when needed; schedule may vary on a weekly basis.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work with a variety of different people at various levels.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be strong with decision-making abilities and establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and other employees
  • Ability to perform manual labor.
  • Ability and willingness to work outside in various environmental exposures.
  • Good problem-solving and multi-tasking skills required.
  • Good customer orientation skills required.
  • Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screening, background check, driving record review, and physical capacity evaluation, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • This position is subject to a six-month probationary period.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy machinery such as street sweepers, hydro-vac trucks, and camera trucks.
  • Maintain Public Stormwater Infrastructure, e.g., streets and parking areas, gutters, inlets, manholes, pipes, culverts, detention/retention systems, dry wells, and stormwater structures.
  • Dig holes and trenches manually and with power equipment.
  • Repair and construct stormwater systems.
  • Operate snow removal and plowing equipment.
  • Operate a variety of equipment, e.g., loaders, excavators, haul vehicles, mowers, pumps, jackhammers, specialized equipment, and hand and power tools.
  • May perform a variety of construction tasks, e.g., form and finish concrete, place and finish asphalt, place and lay pipe of all types, vegetation maintenance, and other related duties.
  • Document and maintain accurate records, including task performance.
  • Inspect public and private development projects.
  • Participate in on-call rotation, responding to after-hour calls.
  • Any other assigned responsibilities that would be required to maintain effective operations of the department.
