Store Team Member (Cashier, Stocker, Animal Care)
About The Position
Store Team Members at Pet Supplies Plus provide friendly, knowledgeable service to neighbors and their pets. The role may include cashiering, stocking, and pet care, and team members may specialize in one or more of these areas. Daily work includes helping customers select pet products, discussing food ingredients and animal care, fitting pet equipment, stocking shelves, processing purchases, and caring for animals in the store. Team members support one another when extra help is needed and learn through interactive Pet Degree pay-for-knowledge programs. The position can be physically demanding, involving lifting 40–65 pounds and standing for long periods. Candidates must be at least 16 years old and pass a drug screening where applicable.
Requirements
- Be at least 16 years old.
- Pass a drug screening in applicable states.
- Be knowledgeable about animals and products to provide outstanding customer service.
- Be flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Able to lift 40–65 pounds and stand for long periods.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional, neighborly service to customers and their pets.
- Help customers select pet toys, food, harnesses, and other products; compare food ingredients and answer animal-care questions.
- Process purchases accurately and efficiently.
- Provide Preferred Pet Club membership information and explain available offers.
- Safely unload delivery trucks using proper equipment.
- Stock shelves with pet food, toys, treats, and other products.
- Carry purchases such as kibble, cat litter, and aquariums to customers’ cars.
- Care for store pets, including cleaning habitats, feeding, and handling animals.
- Act as backup for coworkers when additional help is needed.
