About The Position

The Store Manager oversees all aspects of store operations, including customer service and merchandising, and is accountable for driving business results by effectively coaching the store team. The role focuses on customer service, sales and profit growth, expense control, promotional and merchandising execution, and store management and team development. It requires strong communication, efficiency, and a drive for results. The Store Manager builds and sustains a positive, engaging work environment and a strong shopping experience. They support company branding and values, promote respectful and professional conduct, and ensure store strategies and initiatives are communicated and implemented effectively. The position may also require occasional travel to other store locations and the Sales Support Center for meetings, as well as other duties as necessary.

Requirements

College education preferred, or 1–3 years of management experience in a retail environment preferred.
Energetic, results-oriented, and competitive, with a drive to succeed.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to transport company funds to the Kirkland’s-designated bank in a manner that does not place the funds in a vehicle with any non-Kirkland’s employee.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Ability to operate a point-of-sale system, registers, and handheld devices efficiently and accurately.
Ability to ascend and descend a ladder to retrieve and stock products or hang banners and products.
Ability to frequently position oneself to retrieve and stock products in the stock room and sales floor and place merchandise in bags.
Ability to move around the store constantly for prolonged periods to greet and assist customers.
Ability to communicate frequently with customers in person, electronically, and by telephone.
Ability to frequently move merchandise weighing 50 pounds or more between the stock room and sales floor.

Build high-performing teams that can accomplish company goals, initiatives, and priorities, and sustain productive relationships across the area or district and industry.
Hold team members accountable for individual and team performance.
Communicate strategies, change initiatives, and business opportunities clearly and compellingly to the store team and supervisor.
Identify store opportunities aligned with company strategies and take action to address them.
Implement changes in initiatives and direction appropriately and promptly to drive results.
Travel occasionally to other store locations and the Sales Support Center for meetings.

Perform other duties as necessary.
