About The Position

The Store Manager is responsible for managing employees and effectively planning and implementing all store processes, including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing, and support. The role ensures that the store is properly staffed, operates effectively, maintains accurate inventory and financial controls, and provides superior customer service. The manager also maintains a clean, organized, safe, and secure environment and ensures employees follow company policies and procedures.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations, including percentages.
Knowledge of cash handling procedures, cashier accountability, and deposit control.
Ability to perform cash register functions to generate reports.
Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices, including legal compliance and internal processes.
Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices, including deposits and store keys.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to solve problems and handle a variety of situations.
Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.

Responsibilities

Recruit, select, and retain qualified employees in accordance with labor laws and company policies; ensure appropriate staffing.
Train employees, conduct performance evaluations, identify performance gaps, and provide solutions or counseling, up to and including termination.
Recommend employee pay rates and advancement.
Communicate performance, conduct, and safety expectations; coordinate meetings and events concerning safety, security, and policies.
Ensure the store is appropriately staffed and opened and closed effectively each day; open at least twice and close at least twice per week.
Review operating statements to identify business trends, expense control opportunities, potential shrink, and errors.
Order merchandise to meet or exceed in-stock targets; review ordering plans, seasonal direction, and inventory issues weekly; follow up on Basic Stock Replenishment and cycle counts.
Ensure merchandise is staged, stocked, and stored efficiently according to company processes.
Ensure merchandise presentation follows established practices, including proper use of fixtures, pricing, and signage.
Maintain accurate inventory through control of damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
Maintain store financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, security practices, and cash control procedures.
Provide leadership in delivering superior customer service.
Maintain a clean, organized store and a safe and secure working and shopping environment.
Ensure the store has the tools needed to perform required tasks.
Follow company policies and procedures and ensure employee compliance.
Complete paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
