About The Position

The Store Manager has ultimate responsibility for the overall business performance of the assigned store. The position manages day-to-day operations and maintains high retail standards. The Store Manager implements new concepts, ensures compliance with legal requirements, uses resources effectively to maximize sales and profit, and meets or exceeds company financial and operating goals. The role provides leadership and motivation to promote a culture reflective of Save Mart’s mission and winning behaviors. The Manager develops the store management team to ensure consistent execution of company programs and support succession planning.

Requirements

Excellent leadership and team-building skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, customer service, coaching and mentoring, training, decision-making, delegation, negotiation, organization, administration, and financial skills.
Knowledge of store operations and compliance, store financials, hazardous materials and food safety rules, inventory management, employment law, applicable union contractual language, interviewing techniques, and hiring practices.
Understanding and experience in all aspects of providing products and services in stores.
Four-year college degree, or equivalent knowledge gained through formal education, specialized training, or additional job experience.
Five years of management experience, including at least one year as an Assistant Store Manager.
Must be available to work a variety of required retail hours.
Frequent standing and other physical movements; ability to lift up to 40 pounds without assistance.

Responsibilities

Provide customers with a remarkable shopping experience by demonstrating, training, and holding store associates accountable for excellent customer service.
Improve the overall customer experience and the quality of processes, products, and services in the store to increase sales.
Develop and maintain a customer-focused organization by modeling and communicating associate and customer connection behaviors.
Achieve total store financial goals, including sales, profit and loss, projections, metrics, and analysis, through effective practices and optimization strategies.
Lead, mentor, and develop direct reports, focusing on accountability and strong business performance.
Oversee total store conditions, including store safety, food safety, and protection of company assets, and ensure compliance programs are met.
Use resources effectively to improve productivity, labor flexibility and efficiency, and the quality of the shopping experience.
Represent the store as the primary link to Save Mart leadership teams and ensure effective implementation of business plans.
Represent the company as an ambassador and build the company and store image through community involvement.
Lead quality workplace efforts, including the working environment and employee relations, collaborating with the store management team and associates to improve relationships, morale, productivity, and retention.
Oversee the overall inventory and ordering process.
Perform other duties as assigned.
