About The Position

The Store Environment Team Member maintains the store’s overall appearance, cleanliness, and recovery standards to support Michaels’ Brand Promises and provide a clean, safe environment for customers and staff. The role includes delivering friendly customer service and helping customers find products. Team members clean assigned areas using designated materials and equipment, may prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications, and keep cleaning equipment orderly while notifying a supervisor when supplies need replenishment. They seek out cleaning tasks, complete assigned work, and follow applicable federal, state, and county guidelines.

The role also requires positive and respectful interactions with customers and team members and setting a positive example. Other duties, as assigned, may include checkout and cash handling, promoting rewards and credit card programs, supporting Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship from Store processes, unloading trucks, stocking, planogram work, and supporting shrink and safety programs. Team members follow company policies, standard operating procedures, and applicable laws and requirements.

This is a public retail store setting. Public areas are climate controlled, while some stock rooms may not be. Some outdoor work may be required when retrieving carts or unloading trucks. Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings. The role uses standard commercial cleaners and chemicals. Applicants in the U.S. must meet federal, state, and local legal requirements, and team members must be at least 16 years old.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Must satisfy applicable federal, state, and local legal requirements for the job.
• Ability to remain standing for long periods and move throughout the store.
• Ability to bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch regularly.
• Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using a ladder or similar equipment.
• Use of standard commercial cleaners and chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the overall look and feel of the store, including cleanliness and recovery standards.
• Deliver friendly customer service and help customers shop and find products.
• Collect and dispose of trash according to approved procedures.
• Dust and damp mop floors according to approved procedures.
• Move equipment and products to clean properly and return products to their correct placement.
• Clean assigned areas using designated materials and equipment, and prepare cleaning solutions when required.
• Deep clean bathrooms, breakrooms, entryways, and other high-traffic areas.
• Keep cleaning equipment neat and orderly and notify a supervisor in advance when supplies need replenishment.
• Identify areas that require cleaning and take initiative to complete the work.
• Complete tasks assigned by the supervisor and follow applicable federal, state, and county guidelines.
• Maintain positive and respectful interactions with team members and customers, including in difficult situations, and serve as a positive role model.
• As assigned, provide checkout service, handle cash to standards, and promote and enroll customers in Rewards and Private Label Credit Card programs.
• As assigned, assist with Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship from Store processes.
• As assigned, participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram processes.
• Support shrink and safety programs and comply with company procedures, programs, policies, standards, and applicable laws.
