About The Position

The Store Environment Team Member maintains the store’s overall appearance, cleanliness, and recovery standards while helping deliver the company’s Brand Promises. The role includes friendly customer service and helping customers find what they need. Team members clean assigned areas and high-traffic spaces, keep cleaning equipment orderly, and notify a supervisor when supplies need replenishing. They follow approved procedures and applicable federal, state, and county guidelines, and complete tasks assigned by a supervisor. The position also requires positive, respectful interactions with customers and coworkers and setting a positive example for other Team Members. Other assigned duties may include checkout and cash handling, customer enrollment in rewards and private-label credit card programs, omnichannel order processes, truck unloading, stocking, planogram work, and supporting shrink and safety programs. This is a public retail-store environment. Public areas are climate controlled, while some stock rooms may not be. Some outdoor work may be assigned, such as retrieving carts or unloading trucks. Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings. The role uses standard commercial cleaners and chemicals. Michaels requires Team Members in this role to be at least 16 years old. The listed total base pay range is $18.25–$21.20, and the position may be eligible for overtime compensation in accordance with applicable laws.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old.
Meet applicable federal, state, and local legal requirements of the job.
Ability to remain standing for long periods.
Ability to move throughout the store.
Ability to bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch regularly.
Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using a ladder or similar equipment.

Responsibilities

Maintain store cleanliness, recovery standards, and overall appearance.
Provide friendly customer service and help customers shop and locate products.
Collect and dispose of trash according to approved procedures.
Dust and damp mop floors according to approved procedures.
Move equipment and products to clean properly and return products to their correct placement.
Clean assigned areas using assigned materials and equipment; prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications when needed.
Deep clean bathrooms, breakrooms, entryways, and other high-traffic areas to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Keep cleaning equipment neat and orderly and notify a supervisor of supply needs in advance.
Identify areas requiring cleaning and take initiative to complete the work.
Complete tasks assigned by a supervisor and follow applicable federal, state, and county guidelines.
Maintain positive and respectful interactions with Team Members and customers, including in difficult situations.
Project a positive image and serve as a role model for other Team Members.
When assigned, provide fast checkout service, handle cash according to standards, and explain and enroll customers in Rewards and Private Label Credit Card programs.
When assigned, support Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship from Store (SFS) processes.
When assigned, participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram processes.
Support shrink and safety programs and adhere to SOPs, company programs, policies, and standards.
