About The Position

The Store Environment Team Member maintains the store’s overall appearance, cleanliness, and recovery standards to support Michaels’ Brand Promises. The role includes cleaning assigned areas, deep-cleaning high-traffic and shared spaces, keeping cleaning equipment orderly, and notifying a supervisor when supplies need replenishment. Team members also provide friendly customer service, help shoppers find products, and maintain positive, respectful interactions with customers and colleagues.

Additional duties may include checkout and cash handling, promoting rewards and private-label credit card programs, assisting with Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship from Store (SFS), participating in truck unloading and stocking, supporting planogram processes, and following company procedures and safety, shrink, and compliance programs. The role is based in a public retail store. Work may include some outdoor tasks, and hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings. Michaels requires team members in this role to be at least 16 years old.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Must satisfy applicable federal, state, and local legal requirements for the job.
• Ability to remain standing for long periods.
• Ability to move throughout the store.
• Ability to bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch regularly.
• Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using a ladder or similar equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain store cleanliness, recovery standards, and overall appearance.
• Collect and dispose of trash according to approved procedures.
• Dust and damp mop floors according to approved procedures.
• Move equipment and products to clean properly, then return products to their correct placement.
• Clean assigned areas using designated materials and equipment; prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications when required.
• Deep-clean areas such as bathrooms, breakrooms, entryways, and other high-traffic spaces.
• Keep cleaning equipment neat and orderly and notify a supervisor of supply needs in advance.
• Identify areas requiring cleaning and take initiative to complete the work.
• Complete tasks assigned by a supervisor and perform them in accordance with federal, state, and county guidelines.
• Maintain positive and respectful interactions with team members and customers, including in difficult situations, and serve as a positive role model.
• As assigned, provide fast and friendly checkout service and handle cash according to standards.
• As assigned, explain Rewards and Private Label Credit Card benefits to customers and complete enrollments.
• As assigned, assist with Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship from Store (SFS) processes.
• As assigned, participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram processes.
• Support shrink-prevention and safety programs.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures, company programs, policies, and standards to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
