About The Position

The Store Environment Team Member maintains the store’s overall appearance, cleanliness, and recovery standards to support Michaels’ Brand Promises. The role includes providing friendly customer service, helping customers find products, and keeping assigned areas clean and safe. Team members use approved cleaning procedures and supplies, keep equipment orderly, anticipate supply needs, and complete tasks assigned by a supervisor while following applicable guidelines and company policies. Depending on business needs, additional duties may include checkout and cash handling, promoting Rewards and Private Label Credit Cards, supporting Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship from Store processes, unloading trucks, stocking, planogram work, and supporting shrink and safety programs. The position is performed in a public retail store. Public areas are climate controlled, while some stock rooms may not be; some outdoor work may be assigned. Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old.
Applicants in the U.S. must satisfy applicable federal, state, and local legal requirements of the job.
Ability to remain standing for long periods and move throughout the store.
Ability to bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch regularly.
Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using a ladder or similar equipment.
Ability to use standard commercial cleaners and chemicals from cleaning supplies.

Retail and/or cleaning experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain store cleanliness, recovery standards, and the overall look and feel of the store.
Deliver friendly customer service and help customers shop and find products.
Collect and dispose of trash using approved procedures.
Dust and damp mop floors using approved procedures.
Move equipment and products to clean properly and return products to their correct placement.
Clean assigned areas using designated materials and equipment; prepare cleaning solutions when required.
Deep clean bathrooms, breakrooms, entryways, and other high-traffic areas to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Keep cleaning equipment neat and orderly and notify a supervisor in advance when supplies need replenishment.
Identify areas that require cleaning and take initiative to complete the work.
Complete tasks assigned by a supervisor and perform work in accordance with federal, state, and county guidelines.
Maintain positive and respectful interactions with team members and customers, including in difficult situations, and serve as a positive role model.
As assigned, provide fast and friendly checkout, handle cash to standards, and engage customers about Rewards and Private Label Credit Cards and enrollments.
As assigned, assist with Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship from Store processes.
As assigned, participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram processes.
Support shrink and safety programs and follow company operating procedures, programs, policies, and standards.
