About The Position

The Store Environment Team Member maintains the store’s overall appearance, cleanliness, and recovery standards to deliver Michaels’ Brand Promises. The role also provides friendly customer service and helps customers shop and locate products. It includes cleaning store areas and equipment, keeping cleaning supplies organized, identifying tasks that need attention, and completing assignments in accordance with applicable guidelines and company standards. Additional duties may include checkout, rewards and credit-card enrollment, omnichannel order processes, truck unloading, stocking, planograms, and shrink and safety programs. This position is performed in a public retail store. Public areas are climate controlled, while some stock rooms may not be. Outdoor work may be assigned for retrieving shopping carts or unloading trucks. Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings. The role involves standard commercial cleaners and cleaning chemicals, and the store environment may include a frame shop with a glass cutter and heat press.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old.
Meet applicable federal, state, and local legal requirements for the job.
Ability to remain standing for long periods.
Ability to move throughout the store.
Ability to bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch regularly.
Ability to lift heavy boxes and access high shelves by ladder or similar equipment.

Retail and/or cleaning experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain store cleanliness, recovery standards, and the overall look and feel of the store.
Provide friendly customer service and help customers shop and find products.
Collect and dispose of trash according to approved procedures.
Dust and damp mop floors according to approved procedures.
Move equipment and products to clean properly, then return products to their correct placement.
Clean assigned areas using assigned materials and equipment.
Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing water and detergents when required by specifications.
Deep clean key areas, including bathrooms, breakrooms, entryways, and other high-traffic areas.
Keep cleaning equipment neat and orderly and notify a supervisor in advance when supplies need replenishment.
Identify areas requiring cleaning and take initiative to complete the work.
Complete tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Perform tasks in accordance with federal, state, and county guidelines.
Maintain positive and respectful interactions with team members and customers, including in difficult situations.
Project a positive image and serve as a role model for other Team Members.
As assigned, provide a fast and friendly checkout experience and handle cash according to standards.
As assigned, explain Rewards program and Private Label Credit Card benefits to customers and complete enrollments.
As assigned, assist with Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship from Store (SFS) processes.
As assigned, participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram processes.
Support shrink and safety programs.
Follow Standard Operating Procedures and company programs, policies, and standards to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements.
