About The Position

The Store Clerk works at The Salvation Army thrift store in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Requirements

High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Knowledge of effective customer service techniques.
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Ability to operate a cash register, perform routine mathematical computations, and count change.
Ability to perform frequent or continuous walking and standing, as well as stooping, kneeling, squatting, and some climbing; sitting may relieve periods of these activities.

Responsibilities

Ring up customer purchases, collect payment, count change, and prepare receipts.
Package purchased items and prepare and balance the cash drawer; run routine register printouts.
Prepare and deliver bank deposits and safeguard cash register funds and sales records according to established procedures.
Explain store policies and answer customer questions about item pricing and purchases, helping ensure a pleasant customer experience.
Direct donors to the appropriate loading and unloading area and help move donations to storage.
Prepare and provide tax receipts as needed.
Answer the store telephone courteously, respond to questions, provide directions or general information, and, when needed, schedule and record donation pickups.
Keep the cash register area neat and secure, and ensure forms, bags, and other supplies are adequately stocked.
Arrange items and displays as directed, rotate or rearrange stock, and return handled items to their proper locations.
Clean display racks, shelves, windows, and mirrors; sweep and mop floors; and maintain a clean and inviting store.
