About The Position

Town Pump is seeking a motivated and outgoing Store Clerk. The role is accountable for customer service, cash handling and accounting, merchandise stocking and presentation, housekeeping, store safety and security, and deli food sales and cooking. The position also includes maintaining store and exterior areas, following shift and vendor procedures, and carrying out other duties assigned by management.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and handle cash and accounting duties.
• Operate a computerized cash register; give correct change; scan credit cards; accept and process checks; and bag merchandise.
• Recognize regular customers, answer and screen phone calls, monitor the store, detect shoplifting, and listen to and handle customer complaints.
• Stock shelves and coolers; price, rotate, and display merchandise; and complete shift work accurately and effectively.
• Clean and maintain all areas inside and outside the store, including sweeping the lot, shoveling snow, cleaning gas pumps, and filling water and cleaning-solution buckets on islands.
• Complete vendor check-in procedures, the protocol system, and “drive off” controls.
• Advise the store manager of situations or policy violations that adversely affect store operating performance.
• Keep hot dog rollers, nacho and popcorn machines, the condiment center, coffee areas, and fountain dispensers clean, filled, and stocked.
• Perform deli duties in smaller locations as described in the deli job description.
• Carry out other duties assigned by management.
