About The Position

This position assists store customers with donating, selecting, and purchasing store items; operates and maintains a cash register; answers customer questions; maintains clean and orderly displays; and safeguards store items and register funds. The role includes preparing sales and cash records, handling purchased items, arranging and rotating merchandise, and making daily deliveries of bank deposits. Work takes place in a normal store environment and requires daily vehicle use, with exposure to outdoor weather and conditions such as noise, dust, and dirt.

Requirements

Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
Ability to operate a cash register.
Ability to perform routine mathematical computations and count change.
Ability to walk and/or stand frequently, and to kneel or squat, with lesser periods of sitting or operating a vehicle.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light objects weighing less than 25 pounds.
High school diploma or GED, and retail store experience preferred; alternatively, an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

Assist customers purchasing items by ringing up sales using a cash register.
Collect payments, count change, prepare receipts, and prepare and package purchased items.
Prepare and balance the cash drawer and run routine register print-outs.
Prepare and deliver bank deposits.
Ensure the security and accountability of register funds and sales records in accordance with established procedures.
Maintain the neatness and security of the cash register area and keep forms, bags, and other supplies stocked.
Place and arrange store items as directed; check displays for neatness and order.
Rotate or rearrange stock as directed and return items to their proper locations after customers handle them.
