About The Position

TravelCenters of America (TA) operates travel centers offering customers a one-stop shopping experience with products ranging from groceries and snacks to electronics, maintenance supplies, clothing, and gifts. The Store Cashier I is a key member of the store team, primarily responsible for providing excellent customer service and helping travelers return to the road better than they came. The role works in a customer-focused environment, serving guests courteously, quickly, and efficiently with a positive attitude. It includes processing customer transactions on a point-of-sale register, maintaining clean and stocked food, beverage, and merchandise areas, following safety guidelines, communicating with leaders and coworkers, and completing other job-related duties as assigned. The position may involve exposure to outdoor elements, noise, fumes, particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and substances such as dirt, dust, grease, oil, gas, and concentrated cleaning solutions.

Requirements

Good verbal communication skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.

Nice To Haves

Basic computer/POS knowledge preferred.
Cash handling skills preferred.
Works well with others and is excited to be part of the team.

Responsibilities

Serve each customer courteously, quickly, and efficiently with a sincere, positive, pleasant, and enthusiastic attitude.
Process customer transactions using a point-of-sale (POS) register.
Maintain a clean, well-stocked food and beverage area.
Clean and stock merchandise.
Prioritize work according to store and management needs.
Know and follow safety guidelines and report potentially unsafe situations caused by team members or customers.
Establish strong communication and rapport with leaders and coworkers.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
