About The Position

As a Retail Store Associate at Piggly Wiggly, you help ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the store while providing exceptional customer service. Duties may include restocking shelves, slicing deli meat, receiving products, helping customers with inquiries, and processing transactions. The role also involves maintaining a clean and inviting store environment, supporting sales, and helping cultivate a sense of community among customers.

Positions may include Cashier, Deli Clerk, Produce Clerk, Bakery Clerk, Floral Clerk, Grocery Clerk, Dairy/Frozen Clerk, or Utility Clerk. The schedule is open and varies according to store needs; shifts may be morning, day, or evening. The position is part-time, with potential full-time opportunities. The store environment is a grocery store with temperatures ranging from 50°F to 90°F.

Requirements

• Ability to provide courteous and friendly customer service.
• Ability to read.
• Accurate vision.
• Ability to learn, differentiate, and retain information about product lines and locations.
• Ability to operate applicable store equipment, including mixers, ovens, fryers, proofers, pallet jacks, pan washers, slicers, balers/compactors, jelly pumps, computerized label machines, stoves, microwaves, wrapping machines, pizza dough presses, toasters, computerized scales, food processors, and dishwashers.
• Ability to perform frequent smelling, standing, talking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and feeling.
• Ability to perform constant walking, handling, lifting/carrying, and pushing/pulling of loads up to 80 pounds, and hearing.

Nice To Haves

• Some experience in a retail store is preferred.
• Retail store knowledge is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers in a friendly, professional manner.
• Stock, clean, and rotate products, and maintain appropriate shelf, cooler, and case conditions.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in department cases, prep areas, floors, and coolers.
• Resolve price discrepancies promptly to minimize shrinkage.
• Treat and maintain equipment properly.
• Follow food safety and sanitation procedures for food processing, preparation, and packaging in accordance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Assist workers in other departments when business needs require.
• Collaborate with other departments on interdepartmental or storewide sales promotions.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
