About The Position

The Store Associate helps ensure the smooth and efficient operation of a Piggly Wiggly grocery store while supporting the company’s goal of feeding local communities. The role involves delivering friendly customer service, maintaining product displays and store cleanliness, receiving and handling products, assisting customers with inquiries, and processing transactions. Associates may work in a variety of store departments, including cashiering, deli, produce, bakery, floral, grocery, dairy/frozen, and utility. The schedule is available upon interview and varies according to store needs; shifts may be morning, day, or evening. The position is part-time, with potential full-time opportunities. The store environment ranges from 50°F to 90°F.

Requirements

• Ability to provide courteous and friendly customer service.
• Accurate vision; ability to learn, differentiate, and retain information about product lines and locations; and ability to read.
• Ability to perform frequent smelling, standing, talking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and feeling, and constant walking, handling, lifting/carrying, pushing/pulling loads up to 80 pounds, and hearing.
• Ability to operate equipment used in the store, including mixers, ovens, fryers, proofers, pallet jacks, pan washers, slicers, balers/compactors, jelly pumps, computerized label machines, stoves, microwaves, wrapping machines, pizza dough presses, fryolators, toasters, computerized scales, food processors, and dishwashers.

Nice To Haves

• Retail store knowledge is helpful.
• Some experience in a retail store is preferred (0–2 years).

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Stock, clean, and rotate products while maintaining proper shelf, cooler, and case conditions.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in department cases, preparation areas, floors, and coolers.
• Resolve price discrepancies promptly to minimize shrinkage.
• Treat and maintain equipment properly.
• Follow food safety and sanitation procedures and company policies, as well as applicable federal, state, and local regulations, when processing, preparing, and packaging food.
• Assist employees in other departments when business needs require.
• Collaborate with other departments on interdepartmental or storewide sales promotions.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
