About The Position

The Steward supports Kappo Kappo, a Michelin Star-recipient, 25-seat restaurant at Austin Proper Hotel and Residences. The restaurant is an intimate, chef-driven project focused on French and Japanese techniques and a personalized dining experience. The Steward is a vital link between culinary and service teams, keeping the restaurant clean, organized, and service-ready while supporting back-of-house operations and guest-facing tasks in a fast-paced kappo-style environment.

Requirements

At least one year of related experience in a restaurant, lounge, or hotel is preferred.
Professional appearance and demeanor, with composure in high-pressure situations.
Passion for providing exceptional guest service.
Active Food Handler’s Certificate.
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

Wash, polish, and handle dishware, glassware, and tools with precision and care.
Assist with breakdown of the dishwashing station, trash removal, and other end-of-shift duties as directed.
Assist with opening setup and station stocking.
Maintain stock and inventory of janitorial products and cleaning supplies.
Sweep and mop floors as needed to maintain a clean, safe environment.
Monitor and address spills or cleaning needs in front- and back-of-house areas during service.
Uphold hygiene, sanitation, and safety standards at all times.
Prepare and replenish oshibori towels for guest use.
Restock supplies for the bar, service stations, and kitchen during service as directed.
Assist with clearing and resetting tables discreetly to support service flow.
Maintain all back-of-house areas in clean, organized, and service-ready condition, including refrigeration, storage, and floors.
