About The Position

The Steward ensures clean dishes, pots, pans, and flatware are available by washing them and helping reset the kitchen for subsequent shifts. The role keeps kitchen areas and equipment clean and ready for use, supports cooks and servers as needed, and may be assigned to different venues across the property based on business needs. The Steward follows Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort procedures and policies and provides guest service in accordance with company standards.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must be able to perform the physical job duties of Steward team members.
• Must be able to interact with guests, staff, and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts diplomatically and tactfully.
• Ability to read and interpret English documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to read and communicate verbally in English; written English communication may also be required.
• Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.
• Must complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Support and demonstrate superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.
• Maintain confidentiality in departmental and company matters.
• Provide guest service.
• Clean spilled food and drinks, broken dishes, empty bottles, and trash.
• Clean food, dishes, trays, and silverware from kitchens and supply departments.
• Follow health and sanitation guidelines.
• Assist cooks and servers as needed.
• Scrape and wash dirty dishes, pots, pans, and trays by hand or in a dishwashing machine.
• Maintain adequate supplies of clean linens, silverware, glassware, dishes, and trays.
• Sweep and mop floors as needed.
• Refill soap and paper towels as needed.
• Wash stainless steel walls, doors, and kitchen equipment.
• Separate and remove trash and garbage and place it in designated containers.
• Clean garbage cans as needed.
• Stock cleaning supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
• Set up the banquet kitchen for events and assist with tables and buffets.
• Clean and put away products after events.
• Maintain equipment.
• Work at various venues throughout the property as business needs require.
• Follow established Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort procedures and policies.
