This position is responsible for the cleaning, disinfection, inspection, assembly and sterilization of instruments, supplies, linens and assembly of surgical case carts in Sterile Processing in accordance with established policies, procedures and industry standards. The role involves maintaining departmental policies and procedures while following all quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Responsibilities include decontaminating, cleaning, inspecting, and assembling surgical instruments and medical devices, packaging and wrapping instruments and supplies, operating and troubleshooting sterilization equipment, performing biological, chemical, and mechanical testing, assembling surgical trays and carts, identifying and handling specialized instrumentation, storing and rotating supplies, maintaining accurate records, receiving and delivering patient care equipment, and following infection prevention practices. The technician will use advanced knowledge of instrumentation to support accurate assembly and prioritization of surgical sets, assist in resolving workflow issues, and provide training support to new technicians. Participation in education programs, in-service training, and process improvement initiatives is also expected. Other duties as assigned.
