About The Position

STEM Facilitator provides students with hands-on, authentic experiences which build scientific skills, fuel curiosity, and encourage students to develop their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) identities. STEM Facilitator will play an integral role in delivering and sustaining the transformative learning experience that students need to excel in STEM including the deliverance of STEM-oriented instruction through Project-Based Learning methods.

  • Familiar with STEM curriculum or willingness to learn.
  • Able to manage groups of students safely while engaged in the STEM lab experience
  • Associate degree or relevant experience
  • Teaching experience within a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics)
  • Knowledgeable and skillful in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (ideally with a specialism in Science)
  • Experience in working with in Science related field (business, industry or education settings)

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience and success facilitating with 10-15 participants (preferably at elementary school level)
  • A belief that ALL students are capable of growing and achieving as learners
  • Previous experience with adopting and adapting to new technologies through self-guidance and video tutorials
  • Results-driven; work around potential obstacles to ensure all goals are met and deliverables are completed by the end of program
  • Knowledge of 21st Century skills
  • Desire to teach with technology and improve technological skills as needed
  • Willingness to be self-reflective and reflexive about your individual teaching philosophy and practice
  • Openness to various and/or new pedagogical and facilitation approaches
  • Demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in education or science related field

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and sustain the transformative learning experience that students need to succeed in STEM.
  • Work Collaboratively with other teachers and administration in the development of STEM curricula.
  • Develop STEM learning activities and hands-on material for classes.
  • Adhere to the structure of the curriculum
  • Plan daily lessons.
  • Adequately prep for sessions by reviewing material
  • Ensure activities are aligned and work to ensure outcomes are met
  • Work with students in various configurations including whole group, small group, and individually
  • Facilitate students’ exploration of technical skills
  • Support students with project management, collaboration, and other workforce readiness traits
  • Empower students to take ownership of their learning and facilitate through inquiry rather than providing answers for students
  • Attend to individual student needs
  • Continuously assess student learning and provide regular feedback to students.
  • Provide guidance in establishing and supporting standard procedures for safety and other lab support for assessment activities.
  • Attend training sessions
  • Other duties as assigned
