About The Position

24-MAG LLC is seeking experienced STEM professionals and scientific domain experts for a remote consulting opportunity supporting advanced AI training and evaluation initiatives. Experts will solve, review, and validate challenging scientific, mathematical, and technical problems within a relevant area of specialization. The work combines domain knowledge with computational modelling, quantitative analysis, scientific programming, and coding-agent-assisted workflows to help improve the accuracy and capabilities of AI systems. Candidates need deep expertise in at least one relevant STEM discipline, not every scientific field. The engagement is freelance/contract, fully remote, and open worldwide. The advertised rate is $60–$120 per hour, with output-based payment for completed tasks that meet project specifications. The expected commitment is approximately 15 hours per week, and professionals may choose their working hours and days, including weekends. Task specifications, submission requirements, and compensation depend on individual assignments. Selection may include screening questions, an approximately 30-minute AI interview, and hiring manager review. Selected professionals should be ready to begin their first assignment within 24–48 hours of onboarding. Work must not use confidential or proprietary information belonging to an employer, client, institution, or other third party.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in at least one STEM or scientific discipline, or a directly relevant adjacent scientific, engineering, or quantitative discipline.
  • Strong scientific, mathematical, and analytical reasoning capabilities.
  • Practical proficiency with Python or another programming language used for scientific or technical computing.
  • Experience using coding agents in scientific, computational, or technical workflows.
  • Ability to solve complex domain-specific problems and develop accurate, reproducible technical solutions.
  • Ability to identify incorrect assumptions, logical inconsistencies, computational errors, and missing technical constraints.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accurate, well-structured, reproducible scientific analysis.
  • Excellent analytical communication skills, including the ability to explain sophisticated scientific concepts and technical reasoning clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and manage technically challenging assignments in a remote environment.
  • Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to an employer, client, institution, or other third party.

Nice To Haves

  • An MSc or PhD, although equivalent demonstrated expertise may also qualify.
  • Professional or research experience in scientific problem-solving, quantitative analysis, computational research, or technical engineering.
  • Familiarity with numerical methods, mathematical modelling, scientific simulations, or quantitative research methodologies.
  • Experience reviewing scientific calculations, technical analyses, or computational solutions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Familiarity with NumPy, SciPy, pandas, SymPy, Jupyter, or specialized scientific computing tools.
  • Expertise developed through academic research, industry experience, teaching, engineering, or independent technical work.
  • Prior experience with AI model training or evaluation projects.

Responsibilities

  • Solve challenging scientific, mathematical, and quantitative problems within relevant STEM disciplines.
  • Apply specialized knowledge in fields such as chemistry, biology, mathematics, physics, earth sciences, robotics, or related technical areas.
  • Analyze complex scientific questions and translate requirements into rigorous, well-structured solutions.
  • Evaluate scientific assumptions, theoretical principles, physical constraints, and quantitative relationships.
  • Develop analytical and computational approaches using mathematical reasoning and numerical analysis.
  • Apply modelling, simulation, and quantitative techniques to investigate technical scenarios.
  • Evaluate datasets, scientific measurements, and computational results for accuracy and consistency.
  • Develop reproducible scientific solutions with clear calculations, methodological explanations, and technical validation.
  • Use Python or other suitable programming languages for scientific calculations, numerical analysis, and computational problem-solving.
  • Use coding agents to support technical reasoning, code development, debugging, and scientific workflow execution.
  • Develop scripts, simulations, and reproducible computational solutions for domain-specific problems.
  • Review computational implementations for correctness, efficiency, reproducibility, and consistency with scientific principles.
  • Review and evaluate AI-generated scientific, mathematical, and technical solutions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify incorrect assumptions, reasoning errors, missing constraints, and technical inaccuracies in AI-generated work.
  • Provide detailed feedback explaining errors, corrections, and alternative approaches.
  • Validate scientific solutions through analytical reasoning, calculations, computational testing, or simulation.
  • Review technical outputs for scientific consistency, reproducibility, and alignment with established domain principles.
  • Document problem-solving approaches, assumptions, calculations, and evaluation findings.
  • Apply rigorous quality standards to scientific research assignments, computational analyses, and AI evaluation deliverables.
